Putting the Queer in Queery

Austin and Ulysses are two graduate students studying ecology and evolutionary biology that are ready to "queerify" your experience with science. We discuss all things queer in science - queer related science news, interviews with other queer academics, interesting topics in science, and so much more! Ulysses Shivji (He/Him)

Ulysses is a current masters student in ecology and evolutionary biology. Ulysses specializes in virology and aquaculture. He has made the Biological Science Department at the University of Calgary his home. His research surrounds viruses and DNA and all that jazz and as he has said numerous times “we’re all born naked, and the rest… is drag”. He is an advocate for equality and diversity in both academia and society in general. Being queer and in STEM is a hard world to navigate but its’s all coming together one gay step at a time.
